Sustaining Growth
Sustaining Growth through Long-Term Funding for Native American Christian Ministry
Endowment for Annual Support of Ministry Priorities
When you plant a small tree in your yard or in a park, you know that you won’t benefit right away from the tree’s shade, beauty or fruit. In fact, a small tree is a lot of work. It needs to be watered, fertilized, pruned and protected from the wind. The Red Mesa Foundation has planted a “small tree” in the form of a 1.5 million endowment. It may not be much right now, but by God’s grace it will continue to grow from land development and the gifts of God’s people.
Beginning in 2009, We will begin distributing 5% of the endowment each year for ministry priorities set by the Classis Red Mesa and the Red Mesa Christian School Association. The first distribution is projected to be from a 1.5 million endowment for $75,000. A 10 million dollar endowment will provide $500,000 a year for ministry. And 20 million dollar endowment will provide a million annually, providing stability in funding for the Christian Schools and encouraging church leaders to dream big.
Fryling-Janssen Fund for Zuni Mission
The family of early missionaries Herman and Jennie Janssen Fryling set up an endowment fund through the Red Mesa Foundation to provide long-term annual support for the Zuni Mission. Herman and Jennie worked side by side with the Vander Wagon family at the turn of the 20th Century. Unlike some missionary families, Herman and Jennie didn’t leave descendants in New Mexico. The fund has become their grandchildren’s way to continue in the ongoing mission to which Herman and Jennie devoted their lives.
